Share the Gospel

Elder Henry B. Eyring said there are many ways to share the Gospel:

I've studied carefully and prayerfully some who are remarkably faithful and effective witnesses of the Savior and His Church.... There is no single pattern in what they do. There is no common technique.... Those who speak easily and often of the restored gospel prize what it has meant to them. They think of that great blessing often. It is the memory of the gift they have received which makes them eager for others to receive it. (source)

We think the Internet is a great way to share the gospel.

Brian is a Mormon. He has a blog. It's his personal blog, with pictures of his wife and son, and posts about the Red Sox. One Friday he wrote about the commandment of tithing and why he appreciates it. Then a non-Mormon named Michael left a comment asking why Brian and other Mormons appreciate commandments. Brian and some of his friends answered Michael's question. Brian then offered to send him a video, delivered by Mormon missionaries, which he accepted. Michael took several discussions with the missionaries.

What if thousands of members were doing this?

The More Good Foundation provides tools and websites for sharing your beliefs on the Internet. But whether you use our tools or not, we think you should be more open about what you believe online. If you have a blog, write about what happened in Sunday school this week, or what it was like to get married in the temple, or something that happened on your mission. If you have a Facebook or MySpace profile, don't be afraid to be yourself (your Mormon self) there as well. In a BYU devotional, Gerrit Gong asked students,

Would you feel comfortable showing your profile in Sunday School-or on the big screen at this devotional?

If a non-Mormon were to visit your Facebook or MySpace page, would they get a good idea of what it's like to be a Mormon?

In December, 2007, Elder M. Russell Ballard urged BYU-Hawaii graduates to share their beliefs on the Internet:

May I ask that you join the conversation by participating on the Internet, particularly the New Media, to share the gospel and to explain in simple and clear terms the message of the Restoration.

There are many ways you can share the gospel on the Internet.
